MARJORIE HESTON MARTIN PIERCE

Oct. 3, 1942-Sept. 29, 2017

Marjorie Heston Martin Pierce "Margie," 74, passed away Sept. 29, 2017, after a long struggle with primary progressive aphasia, a form of dementia.

Margie was born Oct. 3, 1942, in Winston-Salem, N.C., to the late Elinor Trent Martin and the late William Heston Martin. Margie had fond memories of her time in Winston-Salem. She attended R.J. Reynolds High School and graduated from Converse College. Margie spent many years living in Beaufort, S.C., and Mount Olive, N.C., and loved all her friends in both towns. Margie was a talented educator and an accomplished executive assistant for several college presidents and private entrepreneurs. She returned to Winston-Salem in 2009 to enjoy her retirement years with her husband of over 50 years, Sterling B. Pierce Jr.

She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Sterling; her son, Tad Pierce; her daughter, Elinor Cinquemani; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Pierce; her son-in-law, Matt Cinquemani; and four wonderful grandchildren, Lexi Pierce, Will Pierce, Alex Cinquemani and Joe Cinquemani. The family would like to thank Patricia Giraldo, whose care for Margie and companionship will always be cherished.

The family will receive friends at the home of Tad Pierce from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Converse College or the Forsyth Humane Society.
