NANNIE CARTER GRADY

July 1, 1931-Sept. 13, 2017

Nannie C. Grady, 86, Dudley, died Wednesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Speight and Maybell B. Carter, and the wife of the late James Ernest Grady.

Prior to retirement, she worked for the Salvation Army in the thrift store for more than 25 years.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

The family will visit with friends following the service and at other times, at the home of Barbara Alphin.

Burial will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Grady is survived by three sons, Thomas Harold Grady (Judy) of Doyline, La., Ernest Ray Grady (Ruthie) of Goldsboro and David Eugene Grady of Goldsboro; two daughters, Brenda Kay Alphin Wade (Charles) of Calypso and Barbara Grady Alphin of Mount Olive; nine grandchildren, Lynn, J.R., David Thomas, Benjamin James, Bridgett, Tracie, Jamie, Lisa and Terri; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Carmen Nicole Grady.
