Charles Albert Combs Sr. passed away suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at his home.

He was born in Durham County April 3, 1942, to Charles Albert Apple and Annie Combs, and was raised by his grandfather, A.B. Combs.

Charles was married for 51 years to the late Patricia Snipes Combs, who preceded him in death Dec. 12, 2013.

He was a truck driver for more than 36 years, and had worked with Thurston Motor Lines and Southeastern Freight Lines.

Charles was a member of the Salvation Army church.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. in Princeton Cemetery, with pastor Bill Rose and pastor John Howard officiating.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Deborah Sue West; son, Charles Albert Combs Jr.; grandson, Michael Jacob West; his sister-in-law, Judy Davis; and nieces and nephews, Tracy Bissette, Darlene Britt and husband, Tony, Brandon Robbins and wife, Nicole, and Jacob Robbins.

He is also survived by his aunts, Nancy Register and Polly McCullen, and six sisters.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Lou Combs, and son, Andrew Scott Combs.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
