EDNA S. DAVIS

Mrs. Edna Sloan Davis, 98, Calypso resident, passed away peacefully at her home early evening Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017.

She was a retired homemaker and farm wife, and had been employed in the cafeteria at North Duplin Schools.

A lifelong member of Calypso Presbyterian Church, she was quite active in attendance and participation, and enjoyed her association with the "women of the church."

Mrs. Davis is survived by three daughters, Vicky C. Davis of Mount Olive, Karen Davis Stell and husband, Bill Stell, of Rose Hill and Jan Davis Davidson and husband, Ray Davidson, of Mount Olive; two grandchildren, Scottie Davidson and wife, Courtney Davidson, and Brandon Davidson; four great-grandchildren, Skyler, Nicholas, Aubrey and Hayden Davidson; three brothers, Erwin Sloan and wife, Winnie, of Turkey, Ruben C. Sloan of Kinston and Daniel Sloan and wife, Millie, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Loved ones preceding this precious lady in death were her husband, Arthur Lambert Davis; her parents, Keith Gordon Sloan and Effie Wadsworth Sloan; a sister, Thelma Boone; two brothers, Melvin G. Sloan and Keith Sloan Jr.; a grandson, Arthur Carl Davidson; and a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Davidson.

A service to worship God and to celebrate the life of Mrs. Edna Davis will be Friday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. at Calypso Presbyterian Church, officiated by the church pastor, the Rev. Nick Nielsen.

Visitation with the family will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

Burial will be Saturday, Aug. 5, following an 11 a.m. committal service at Wayne Memorial Park.

Friends and family are also being received at the Davis home.
