MILDRED SINGLETON BAILEY

Mildred Singleton Bailey, 92, passed away early Sunday morning at the home of her son in Garner while surrounded by her family.

Mildred was born in Wayne County Jan. 23, 1925, to the late Brodie and Lillie Grant Singleton. She was married to the late Earl Bailey.

Mildred enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many children as an employee of Sunrise Learning Center for more than 24 years.

She was a member of Pinkney Missionary Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clayton Sutton officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and following the service Wednesday at the home of Rachel Singleton, 1987 N.C. 111 South, Goldsboro, N.C.

Mildred is survived by her son, Milton Bailey and wife, Diane, of Garner; sister, Rachel Bush of Muncie, Ind.; brothers, Bobby Singleton of Goldsboro and Billy Singleton of Muncie, Ind.; grandchildren, Earl Bailey II and wife, Kimberly, Beth B. Glover and husband, Ashley, Dina B. Anderson and husband, Michael, and Daniel Bray; and three great-grandchildren, Christian Harrell, Nathan Bailey and Benjamin Bailey.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Alvin Singleton, Harold Singleton, Christine Smith, Ann Bain and Faye Miller, and half-brothers, Milford Singleton and Kirby Singleton.

Mildred's family would like to acknowledge the staff of Transitions LifeCare, particularly Gloria and Pearl, as well as the caregivers, nurses and physicians who had a profound impact on the quality of Mildred's life in recent months.

Special thanks also go to Mildred's special caregiver, Ryan Hale, who provided excellent medical care and companionship.
