HELEN COLE PIERCE

Helen Cole Pierce, 88, Princeton, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

Helen was born in Johnston County Oct. 4, 1928, to the late Alison and Julia Brown Cole. She was married for 61 years to the late Carl Pierce.

Helen enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many students as a substitute teacher with Wayne County Public Schools for more than 43 years.

She was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church.

Helen was the kindest and most loving mother, grandmother and a friend to everyone. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

A service to celebrate Helen's life will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kelly Buffaloe officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

Interment will be Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Helen is survived by her sons, Hal Pierce of Winterville and Danny Pierce and wife, Sheree, of Princeton; special niece, Joyce Corbett of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren, Carla Pierce and Chris Pierce and wife, Katherine.

She is also survived by a special friend and caregiver, Jackie Prutzman.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Lynn Pierce; granddaughter, Dana Pierce; daughter-in-law, Eldean Pierce; sisters, Mattie Lee Cole, Ruby Barbour and Hazel Jinnette; and brothers, Hugh Cole, Edgar Cole, Curtis Cole, Coy Cole and Roy Cole.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Antioch Presbyterian Church, 2306 Old Smithfield Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
