Edna Cox Jones Price, 91, was welcomed into the presence of the Lord Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017, while being cared for at Transitions Life Care Hospice of Raleigh.

She was a Wayne County native, and after her marriage to William Jennings "Billy" Jones, home was in the Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive, where she worshipped at and remained a member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church.

After Mr. Jones' passing and in years to come, she married Wade Price, and relocated to the Kenansville area and began Christian fellowship with Rooty Branch Free Will Baptist Church.

After Mr. Price passed away, she returned to Mount Olive, this time to the North Pointe Apartments, and worshipped at Northeast Free Will Baptist Church.

The last several years of her life were spent in Raleigh to be nearer to her daughters.

Mrs. Edna will be remembered as having been store manager for Shoe Show in Mount Olive, followed by serving as cashier at Mount Olive College cafeteria.

She is survived by three daughters, Ann Jones Weaver of Smithfield, Mary Lou Jones Kornegay and husband, Jerry, of Mooresville and Jackie Jones Bridgers and husband, Elton, of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Gary Weaver and wife, Ann Davis Weaver, Annet Hagwood and husband, Jimmie, Jan Farmer and husband, Darin, Patrick Kornegay and wife, Jennifer, Jessica Standifer and husband, Charlie, and Natalie Bridgers and husband, Chris; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Overman of Williamston and Martha Phipps of Goldsboro; and a brother, Bobby Cox and wife, Pat, of Dudley.

Also surviving are members of the Wade Price family, along with nieces and nephews from the Cox and Jones families.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Jones and Wade Price; her parents, Walter B. and Phoebe Grantham Cox; two sisters, Katherine Cox McClenny and Hilda Cox Kornegay; and a son-in-law, Phil Weaver.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, at 6:30 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home.

Officiating will be the Rev. Mickey Whitfield, and visitation will immediately follow the service.

Committal will be Saturday, May 27, at 1 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, followed by interment.

Mrs. Edna Jones Price lived a life simply to serve others.

Known as "Me Ma" not only to her grandchildren, but to countless others, she enjoyed attending baseball games in support of the Trojans at Mount Olive College, and her favorite eating place was with Ms. Gaynell Brock at the Southern Belle.

She will be sorely missed.
