The Rev. Dr. William F. "Billy" Toler, 70, Free Will Baptist minister of Elm City, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

Funeral Saturday 11 a.m. First Free Will Baptist Church, 4865 Nash St. Northwest, Wilson. Interment Saturday 1:30 p.m. Elmwood Cemetery of Fremont.

The family will be at the church Friday beginning at 6 p.m.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Margie Proctor Toler; son, Lee Toler of Pikeville; daughter, Cindy Toler (Danny Miller) of Cape Carteret; special grandson, Ashton Toler, Devin Murray and their mother, Susan Murray; granddaughters, Morgan and Madison Miller; sisters, Jean Summerlin of Macclesfield and Rachel Ruffin of Whitakers; mother-in-law, Isabell Proctor of Fremont; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Ricky) Winders, Sue Proctor and Connie (Richard) Kidd; brothers-in-law, Larry (Brenda) Proctor of Fremont and Mike Proctor of Cedar Point; and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as very special friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Maggie Toler; sisters, Annette Sasser and Linda McSwain; father-in-law, Leland "B.K." Proctor; brothers-in-law, Richard Proctor, Fred Ruffin, Bill Sasser, Albert Summerlin and Kenneth Baker; and a special nephew, Kenny "Buster" Baker.

He served God for more than 35 years, and touched many lives and loved every minute of it -- never feeling that he sacrificed anything.

He went from being a sharecropper's son to having more riches and blessings than any one person could ever imagine.

His favorite verse: In the beginning God ... (Genesis 1:1).

This is a celebration of a great man -- rejoicing and skipping down the golden streets in heaven. Please no black clothing -- wear the loudest and brightest colors you have.
