Helen Mozingo Wood, 80, LaGrange, quietly and peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at her home.
The youngest of six children, Helen was born Oct. 6, 1936, in LaGrange to the late Logan Mozingo and Bessie Ellis Mozingo.
Her husband of 57 years, Leslie Carroll Wood, preceded her in death Feb. 3, 2014.
A woman of strong faith, Helen was a longtime member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Helen was someone who willingly spoke her mind, and you never had to wonder where she stood.
Driven and always busy, no one outworked Helen. She loved working in her home, yard and garden. Everything had to be just so and in a clean and orderly fashion. It doesn't cost anything to be clean.
Her family has fond memories of her beautiful yard, garden and all the Christmas cactuses sitting on her porch.
She loved traveling in her younger years, and late in life, she developed a passion and love for animals. Her daily visit with Joni's dogs always brought a smile to her face.
Helen was an avid reader, and loved sending notes, cards and words of encouragement to those she loved and cared for. Her memory and legacy shine brightly in the hearts of her family.
A service to celebrate and honor Helen's life will be held Friday, March 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home, with pastor Bob Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Helen is survived by three children, Charles Michael Wood, Rhonda Stroud and her fiancé, Ronnie Seigworth, and Joni Rhodes and her husband, Brent; two special nieces, Leona Leneave and Maxine Hinnant; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Helen's family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, and at other times, the family will be at the home.
