Hallelujah! The Lord has received another one of his faithful servants home.

Lanis Sutton Lockamy, 86, went to her heavenly home Friday, March 10, 2017, to walk hand in hand with her Lord and Savior.

Lanis was born in Sampson County Feb. 9, 1931, to the late Ira and Polly Sutton. She was married to the late Wilbert Earl Lockamy.

Her most significant role in life, and what she did best, was being a loving mother and friend to her children.

Lanis was a longtime member of Jefferson United Methodist Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church, and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 12, 2017, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church, followed by a service to celebrate Lanis' life at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Linda Grider officiating. Interment will be Monday, March 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Lanis is survived by her son, Monty Lockamy; daughters, Leah Lockamy and Sally King and husband, James; son-in-law, Kenny Smith; grandchildren, Aaron Bone, James King Jr., Brooke King, Kasi Smith and Kayla Lassiter and husband, Matthew; and great-grandchildren, James King, Sharon King, Austin Flowers, Emma Lassiter, Carson Wolfe, Kameren Wolfe and Mia King.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death Jan. 23, 2017, by her daughter, Beth Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Jefferson United Methodist Church, 1101 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
