CONALD GRAY DANIELS

Conald Gray Daniels, 90, Dudley, passed away early Saturday morning at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kinston.
Conald was born in Wayne County May 16, 1926, to the late Luther and Annie Lewis Daniels.
He was married to the mother of his children, the late Alice King Daniels, for 29 years.
Conald proudly served his country in Troop B of the 8th Calvary of the United States Army during World War II. Conald's valor and skill were recognized with numerous decorations, including an Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Philippine Liberation Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.
Conald also served the city of Goldsboro as a firefighter. He retired as captain of Goldsboro Fire Department after 30 years of service.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 13, 2017, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating his life at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Interment with military and fireman honors will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.
Conald is survived by his daughters, Frances D. Figgins and husband, Ronnie, of Dudley and Connie D. Casey and husband, Neal, of Goldsboro; sister, Annie Louise Capps of Goldsboro; brother, L.J. Daniels of Dudley; grandchildren, Jody Figgins, Amber Figgins and Brandon Bond; and great-grandchildren, Abbigail Figgins, Dakoda Allen and Sabree Allen.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Daw; grandson, Jason Figgins; his second wife, Amelia Gail Poythress Daniels; and sisters, Joyce Jackson and Leora Johnson.
Conald's family would like to acknowledge the caregivers, Linda Daw, Lisa Cantwell, Pearl Grant, Juanita Moody, Kim Boldstridge and Tammy Tomlinson; together they demonstrated what constitutes excellent care.
Special thanks go to the nurses and physicians at the North Carolina Veterans Home, who had a profound impact on the quality of Conald's life in recent months.
