Joseph Millard Snipes Jr., 74, Kenly, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at his home surrounded by his family.
Joseph was born in Johnston County Oct. 21, 1942, to the late Joseph Millard Snipes Sr. and Lucille Hinnant Snipes.
He was a member of Kenly Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Joseph was a retired farmer, and nothing made him happier than being out on the farm on his tractor.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times, at the home of his daughter Mary Jo.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Kenly Cemetery.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sue Pearce Snipes; daughters, Mary Jo Grantham and husband, Reggie, of Kenly and Kristi Aycock and husband, Brad, of Pikeville; sister, Phyllis Edwards and husband, Bob, of Princeton; grandchildren, Joey Grantham and wife, Jamie, Matthew Grantham and wife, Sarah, Hannah Aycock and Ethan Aycock; and great-grandchildren Caleb Smith, Kaitlyn Smith and Camden Smith.
