Mr. Heber Elton Harrison, 79, LaGrange, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017.

A native of Greene County, he was born Aug. 11, 1937, the son of Heber and Irene Elizabeth Aldridge Harrison.

Following graduation from Snow Hill High School, he served in the United States Army.

After his honorable discharge, Elton returned to Greene County, where he was both a truck driver and a farmer until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise Ipock Harrison, and a sister, Leo Harrison Bailey.

Surviving are his children, Beverly Harrison Hartley and husband, Randy, of Goldsboro, Allison Harrison Lewis and husband, Roy, of Greenville and Elton Dexter Harrison and wife, Lisa, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Ryan Hartley of Goldsboro, Michael Dexter Harrison of LaGrange, Amie Lewis of Washington and Lindsay Lewis Temple and husband, Landen, of Bath; great-grandsons, Jaden Spain and Alex Spain of Washington and Brody Hudson Temple of Bath; a sister, Mollie H. Crisp of Goldsboro; a brother, Carson Harrison of LaGrange; and a special aunt, Ida Aldridge Jackson of Kinston.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Tingen officiating. Interment will follow at New Hull Road Church Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall and other times at Mr. Harrison's residence.
