Retired Senior Master Sgt. Marvin P. Shearod Jr., Goldsboro, N.C., peacefully passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital of Goldsboro, N.C.
Marvin Shearod Jr. was born in Ozark, Ala., Feb. 9, 1947, to the late Marvin P. Shearod Sr. and Cora Lee Borders Shearod. He was one of eight children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Miriam Barrett and James Carlton Shearod.
He was a motivated and hardworking patriarch, instilling the same work ethic and values in the lives of those he touched. He was a family man, who demonstrated love and family unity, which created a gift of life for all who became a part of his life.
A gathering for family and friends will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory Saturday, Jan 28, 2017.
Arrangements are being handled by Howell also.
A repast will follow at Guiding Star Holy Church at 1114 S. Slocumb St.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Shearod of the home; a son, Gary Shearod of Austin, Texas; daughters, Cheryl Shearod Fogg (Bryant) of Raleigh, N.C., and Shelanda Shearod of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Glenn Charles Shearod (Geraldine) of Camp Springs, Md.; four sisters, Shirley Porter and Rita Greenfield of Goldsboro, N.C., and Marva Shearod and Felicia Shearod of Atlanta, Ga.; seven granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Howell Funeral Home.
Although appreciated, the family is not accepting any flowers.
The family will receive friends and other family members at the family home.
