Mr. Billy Ray Herring, 80, Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at his home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Wayne County, son of the late Mark and Lillie Barwick Herring.
Mr. Herring was retired with the North Carolina Department of Revenue with more than 30 years of service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rockingham.
Mr. Herring was a veteran, serving in the United States Army.
Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in the mausoleum of Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham, with the Rev. Mike Sykes and the Rev. Pat Sykes officiating.
The family will see friends following the service.
Mr. Herring is survived by his wife, Faye Sutton Herring of the home; a daughter, Camille H. Utter and husband, Chuck, of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Ben Utter, Caiti Utter and Cameron Utter; two brothers, Donald Herring and wife, Margaret, of Wilson and Mark Herring Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Seven Springs; and many loved nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
