James Clark Dail, 68, resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 28, while being lovingly cared for at Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.

His life will be remembered in a service to be held Sunday, Jan. 1, at 3 p.m. at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be church pastor, the Rev. Steven Wicks. Visitation will be at Tyndall Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 31, from 6 until 8 p.m., and at other times at the residence. A private burial will be in the Martin-Price Cemetery.

Upon graduating from Atlantic Christian College, Clark embarked on a career in teaching and coaching at Wayne Country Day School, serving for 10 years, after which he became associated with E. J. Pope and Son, Inc., and was employed for more than 20 years in its service department. He was a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, had served as an elder, and assisted in many other capacities through the years.

Clark is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lynn Colson Dail; his beloved children and their spouses, Tracy and Jeff Teal of Creedmoor, and Jason and Amber Dail of Chinquapin; his grandchildren who were the apples of his eye, Colson and Chase Teal, and Jayden and Avery Dail; a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Sandra Dail and their family of New Bern; a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Michael Varner of Boone; and his wife's parents who were his "other set" of parents, Ben and Edna Colson, of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jordan and Elsie Lee Dail; and a brother-in-law, Larry Colson.

After having been strickened with heart failure and in need of a new heart, and with his unwavering faith in God above, when death came, a grandchild put it all into perspective: "Poppie's now got a perfect heart, plus a set of wings."

Arrangements by Tyndall Funeral Home.
