Wilhelmina Best, 86, of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Goldsboro, N.C., peacefully joined the master on Dec.18, 2016, at her residence.
She was born in Wayne County to the late Leonard and Daisy Kornegay Yelverton.
Wilhelmina graduated from Central High School and received her bachelor of science degree in education from Fayetteville State University. She then received her masters degree from Loyota College in Maryland.
Wilhelmina leaves to cherish her memory three children, Chester Best Jr., Darlene Best and Thyngeline Best (Dave) Burnham, all of Md.; two grandchildren, Dave Burnham Jr. and Turkessa (Afoulk) Demissa; four great-grandchildren, Trinity, Temple, Emmanuel and Gabriel, all of Baltimore, Md.; a special goddaughter, Marie Isler of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at 12 noon at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 928 E. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, N.C., with Elder Michael Yelverton officiating. Her mortal remains will be laid to rest in Old Mill Cemetery on Central Heights Road following the service.
Viewing for Mrs. Best will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The family will assemble at 106 Earnest Ave., Goldsboro, N.C. (Tiffany Gardens) at 11 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
