David "Peanut" Godwin, 66, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
David was born in Wayne County on April 30, 1950, to Helen Tyndall Godwin of Goldsboro and the late Ransom "Dick" Godwin. He was a graduate of East Carolina University and had worked in sales with Sally Beauty Company. David loved people and his job afforded him the opportunity to meet many people. David's passion was golf and he was a member of the Goldsboro Country Club. If it was a beautiful day, he enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his friends.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service celebrating David's life will be held by the graveside on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Godwin Family Cemetery, 292 Salem Country Lane, Goldsboro.
In addition to his mother, David is survived by his son, Chris Godwin of Fayetteville and brothers, Dennis Godwin and Bill Godwin.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
