Walter Franklin Thompson, 86, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at his home.
Walter was born in Anson County, N.C., Feb. 28, 1930, to the late Walter Franklin Thompson Sr. and Ida Mae Garris Thompson. He was married to the late Lena Sue Hayes Thompson.
Walter was retired from the United States Air Force.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Lynn T. Aldrich and husband, Larry, of Goldsboro; son, Ronnie Thompson and wife, Sharon, of Goldsboro; brother, Ken Thompson and wife, Patsy, of Concord; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Although flowers are welcome, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.
