BARBARA ANN WHITLOCK

Dec. 25, 1946-Nov. 18, 2016

Barbara Ann Whitlock, 69, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born in Mecklenburg County, Va., Dec. 25, 1946, to the late John Edward Gilreath and Betty Wiggs Brogden.

She had retired from Bussman in Goldsboro.

Barbara had a great love for serving others, and for many years, worked as a caregiver of the elderly. She had also served our county as a notary public.

Barbara was a beautiful person whose loving spirit and ever present smile radiated the joy she experienced in living every day of her life.

She was deeply devoted to her family, and was happiest when she was spending time in family/friend gatherings or with those she cared for. Those of us who knew Barbara weep at our loss, laugh with our remembrances and reflect deeply on how much she meant to us. She made the world a healthier and happier place.

The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, from 11 a.m. to noon at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Barbara's life at noon, with the Rev. Steve Holder officiating. Interment will conclude the service at Brogden Family Cemetery.

Barbara is survived by her son, Steve Bass and wife, Machelle, of Dudley; granddaughter, Madison Faith Bass; sister, Peggy Walton and husband, Jim; and a special cousin, Mary Wiggs Haskins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her cousin, Betty Jean Wiggs.
