Lillie Estelle Howell Godwin, 85, Goldsboro, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Estelle was born in Wayne County Dec. 1, 1930, to the late Rufus Albert Howell and Lillie Mae Sutton Howell.

She was married to the late Tommy Godwin, who preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1997.

Estelle retired from civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Goldsboro with her husband, and was currently a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro.

Estelle lived a life of dedication to her family and friends and to her community.

She was a member of the Golden Agers, the Red Hat Society, the Goldsboro Women's Club, the New Neighbors Club, the Goldsboro Singles Club, the Women's Missionary Society at First Baptist Church and the Women's Ministry at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Those who met Estelle could always see a smile on her face, and could count on her kindness and unconditional love and friendship.

A service celebrating Estelle's life will be held Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Rose and the Rev. Jonathan Altman officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park when conditions allow.

Estelle is survived by her sisters, Edith H. Sutton of Mount Olive, Mabel H. Britton of Mount Olive, Lucille H. Rackley of Dunn, Blonnie H. Price and husband, Gary, of Goldsboro and Katie H. Edwards of Goldsboro, and a special brother-in-law, Woodrow Anderson of Goldsboro.

She is also survived by her stepchildren and families, Patsy and Alan Lumpkin, Diane Perry of Raleigh and Charles Godwin of Charleston, S.C., and several nieces and nephews that she loved very dearly.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Estelle's memory to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1519 Thunder Swamp Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
