RUDOLPH LEWIS

Nov. 6, 1935-Aug. 12, 2016

Burt Rudolph Lewis, 80, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Rudolph was born in Wayne County Nov. 6, 1935, to the late Burt and Thelma Benton Lewis.

He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.

Rudolph retired as the director of housekeeping at Cherry Hospital, and was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.

Although Rudolph leaves a vacant place in our hearts, we know he truly earned his special place in heaven. Rudolph will always be remembered as a loyal man of faith, and for the love and respect for everyone who touched his life. The best of Rudolph will live on in each of us.

A service celebrating Rudolph's life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Madison Hankal officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Interment will be Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Rudolph is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Brock Lewis; sons, Burt Lewis and wife, Susan, of Goldsboro, and David Lewis and wife, Angie, of Goldsboro; sisters, Eunice Colclough of Goldsboro and Juanita Boyette of Kinston; and grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Lewis, John Marc Lewis, Burt William Lewis and Daniel Wesley Lewis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Lewis, Gene Lewis and Royce Lewis, and sisters, Gladys Bass, Jeddie Edwards, Daphne Faircloth, Edith Wilson, Janet Johnson and Sara Schult.
