LEM E. HEAD
Died Aug. 10, 2016
Lem E. "Jimmie" Head, 87, Eureka, went to meet his Lord and Savior Aug. 10, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church.
Visitation will follow immediately in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home.
Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith Pender Head; parents, Lem and Ada Head; brothers, Joe Head, O'Berry Head, Zack Head, Russell Head and Zell D. Head; and sisters; Minnie Lee Ginn, Sudie Moore, Octavia Edmundson, Odie Chase, Ona Lee Bass, Alma Crumpler and Annabelle Rhodes.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Smith and Michael Abramowitz of Eureka, Denise Balance and husband, Ros, of Fremont and Delores Gray and husband, Jeff, of Goldsboro; adopted daughter, Jenny Sipes of the home; son, Dennis of the home; grandchildren, Jill Joyner of Faro, Ginger Wendt of Goldsboro, Stephanie Cummings and husband, Alan, of Faro, Daniel Ballance of Wilmington, Marrianna Gray and Taylor Gray of Goldsboro; and five great-grandchildren, Jimmie Joyner of Faro, Julianna and Kayla Wendt of Goldsboro and Avery and Sarah Cummings of Faro.
Jimmie was self-employed as a building contractor with Head and Hart Contractors until his retirement in 1991.
He continued working on his own for many years in Wayne and Greene counties.
He was known for his charity to those in need, his storytelling and sense of humor, especially during regular breakfasts with his friends at the local cafe in Eureka.
He had a great love for God, his family and his friends.
Jimmie had great passion for music, and was a gifted guitarist and singer, who especially enjoyed playing and singing with his family.
