Raymond Donald “Don” Taylor, 67, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Rex Hospital.

Don was born in Wayne County Jan. 7, 1949, to the late Raymond and Esther Daniels Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Allen Taylor.

Don was best known for using his entrepreneurial skills in the dry cleaning business, both in Martinsville, Va., and Goldsboro.

After retiring from Farmer’s Cleaners in the downtown district of Goldsboro, Don began contracting with other companies to help with the organization of their operations.

Don was active at Providence United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Wesley Covenant Sunday School Class and where he taught Sunday school for many years.

Don was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors, on the water or in the woods.

Most recently, Don enjoyed the conversation and fellowship of the Men’s Group at McDonalds in Dudley.

A service celebrating Don’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Providence United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Don is survived by his daughter, Ashley Womble and husband, Brent, of Colfax, and he was anticipating the birth of his granddaughter, Isabella Raylee Womble.

He is also survived by his special friend, Jackie K. Taylor; sister-in-law, Sylvia H. Taylor; brother-in-law, Brent Allen and wife, Rhonda; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Whitney Shea Taylor; brothers, D.C. Taylor and Gary Taylor; sisters, Janet Robbins and Glenda Taylor; and his mother and father-in-law, Pauline and Edward Allen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the Whitney Shea Taylor Scholarship Fund, c/o Providence United Methodist Church, 202 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
