EDWARD JAMES 'JIMMY' BULLOCK JR.

Feb. 23, 1945-June 22, 2016

Edward James "Jimmy" Bullock Jr., 71, Princeton, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at his home.

Born Feb. 23, 1945, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of the late Edward James and Sarah Lee Hadnott Bullock.

When he was 3 years old, the family moved to Wilson, N.C.

Jimmy called Wilson home until he and Margaret moved to the Princeton area in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Bullock, and brother, Hilton Bullock.

Jimmy was a partner in the family business, Electric Motor Service of Wilson. Later he began his 30-year career with Wilson Community College, where he shared his love of math with many students, who will remember that dry sense of humor he used.

He enjoyed teaching, and remained active in the profession even after his retirement from Wilson. He was especially proud that his daughter decided to follow in his footsteps in that profession.

Jimmy was an active member of Princeton Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities -- Sunday school teacher, deacon and various committees.

He served his fellow man as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, Red Cross swimming instructor and Scout leader when his son was in Scouting.

Scouting was important to the Bullock family. Jimmy's parents served as leaders, and were proud that Jimmy and his brother achieved Eagle Scout honor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, in Princeton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Matt Wilson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m., just prior to the service.

Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Margaret Worley Bullock of the home, and daughter, Megan Bullock Greene and husband, Anthony, of Princeton.

He will be remembered by many family, friends and former students, who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Princeton Baptist Church, 211 S. Pearl St., Princeton, N.C., 27569.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at parrishfh.com.
