DANNY KAYE HOWELL SR.

Feb. 23, 1949-June 20, 2016

Danny Kaye Howell Sr., 67, Princeton, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Danny was born in Wayne County Feb. 23, 1949, to the late Chester and Alma Grace Wiggs Howell.

His first and favorite occupation was a farmer, and many of his happiest times were spent atop one of his many prized tractors on the family farm.

The patriarch of the family, Danny was a self-made man with a ninth-grade education, who was a wealth of information for his son working in the fields. Danny was always checking on his crops and whether they had their tobacco in, beans and what else they were planting.

Some nights he would ride around in his truck, looking at his fields talking and walking about the farm.

He also enjoyed attending the prayer meetings with the members of Princeton Church of God of Prophecy and Anchored in Christ.

A service celebrating Danny's life will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Bishop Eugene Hartley and the Rev. Jeff Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Danny is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Hartley Howell; son, Danny Howell Jr. of Princeton; daughters, Becky H. Hare and special friend, Joe Boney, of Wendell and Brenda H. McCullen of Four Oaks; and grandchildren, Aidan McCullen and Ashleigh Hare.

He is also survived by his brothers, Freddie Howell and wife, Patricia, of Selma, Richard Howell of Princeton and Lee Wiggs and wife, Sylvia, of Goldsboro, and special friends, Ricky McCullen and Landon Hare.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
