RICHARD GEOFFREY MARSHALL

Richard Geoffrey Marshall, United States Air Force retired, 58, Pikeville, N.C., passed away May 23, 2016, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Born Sept. 16, 1957, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., he was the son of the late Lawrence Edward Marshall and Margaret Jeanne Cooley Marshall.

He was a graduate of Great Valley High School in Malvern, Pa., class of 1975.

Mr. Marshall served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1996 as an information technology engineer.

After his military career, he worked for General Dynamics.

Mr. Marshall was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, troops 8 and 12, assistant scout master, an Eagle Scout and an Order of the Arrow recipient.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Rubba Marshall; sons, Matthew John Marshall, Stephen Geoffrey Marshall and wife, Sophia, and Michael Neil Marshall; daughter, Lindsay Elizabeth Pierce and husband, Zachary; and sister, Shari Marshall Graham and husband, Bill.

Also surviving are four granddaughters, Emma Grace and Soyer Pierce and Zoe and Molly Harrison; four nieces and nephews, Caroline and Perry Graham, Megan Marshall Turner and Brian Marshall; and three great-nieces, Ciella Turner and Reagan and Piper Marshall.

Preceding him in death were his brothers, Larry Edward Marshall Aug. 1, 2009, and Craig Gilbert Marshall Feb. 14, 1982.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, by the Rev. Rhodes Woolly, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Services will be held at the historic U.S. National Cemetery at 202 Government Road in Salisbury with military honors by Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Honors and the North Carolina National Guard.
