CHARLIE B. HOWELL

Charlie Bissette Howell, 66, Pikeville, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at his home.

Charlie was born in Wayne County Dec. 19, 1949, to the late H. Clifton Howell and Annie Mae Bissette Howell.

He was a 1968 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, and was involved in the operations of the family grocery business (Howell Brothers Grocery) from the age of 10 until March 2015.

Charlie was a very loved and compassionate Pikeville resident.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, and a retired member of Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

Charlie served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

A service to celebrate Charlie's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will follow in Pikeville Cemetery.

Charlie is survived by his brother, Henry N. Howell of Garner; sisters, Becky Stroud and husband, Ivey, of Raleigh and Lida Fultz and husband, Jim, of Pikeville; nieces, Marcy Henn and husband, Jaye, Maile Shirley and husband, John, Deana Garrou and husband, Tom, Hope Graney and husband, Patrick, Dana Webber and Keith Washam; and nephews, Cliff Greenup and wife, Rhonda, Neal Howell and wife, Thea, David Howell and wife, Jo, and Lee Webber and wife, Ashley.

Although flowers are welcome, the family requests memorials be given to Pikeville Cotton Museum, 101 W. School St., Pikeville, N.C., 27863, or Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1100 Pikeville-Princeton Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times, at the home of Lida and Jim Fultz, 403 W. Main St., Pikeville, N.C.
