SHELTON R. BENNETT

Shelton R. Bennett, 62, resident of Drummersville near Seven Springs, passed away Monday evening, April 25, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Doug Johnson, with burial following in Bennett Family Cemetery. Fellow deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home.
Shelton was employed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office as a detention officer, and prior to this, he was a self-employed dry wall installer.
He was a member of Zion Methodist Church at Pricetown.
Shelton was preceded in death by his parents, Currie D. and Gola Mae Whitfield Bennett, and a brother, Jimmy Doyle Bennett.
He is survived by a brother with whom he shared a home, Dwight Bennett; a nephew, Jeremy Bennett of Huntsville, Ala.; nieces, Tara Bennett Kilian of Columbus, Ohio, and Lindsay Davis of Seven Springs; great-niece and nephews, Lara Kilian, Cole Kilian, Jesse Bennett Ash and Ryan Bennett; several cousins; and several dear and close friends.
While flowers are welcome, for those wishing to do a memorial gift instead, the family suggests Kitty Askins Hospice, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, 27534.
