CARSON EDWARD SMITH

Dec. 18, 1928-April 26, 2016

Carson Edward Smith, 87, Goldsboro, passed away early Tuesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Carson was born in Greene County Dec. 18, 1928, to the late William and Lillie Aswell Smith.

His first and favorite occupation was a farmer, and many of his happiest times were spent on one of his tractors on the family farm.

Carson loved working at the turkey houses, and a lot of times, he would just find small jobs that needed to be done.

Carson had two places he loved to be; first was in his little gray truck reading the newspaper, no matter what the temperature was outside.

He also loved his gas logs. If you ever went for a visit in the winter, you needed to dress for the summer because he loved to stay toasty warm.

Above all, Carson loved spending time with his family, especially his boys. He will be missed.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Snow Hill Cemetery in Snow Hill, N.C. The Rev. Danny Hamm will officiate.

Mr. Smith will lie in state at Seymour Funeral Home Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. Friends are welcome to call on the family at its home Wednesday.

Carson is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosetta B. Smith; sons, Kent Smith and wife, Ruth, Bobby Smith and wife, Kim, and Stacy Smith; grandchildren, Wendy Hair and husband, Scott, Mary Katherine Cruz and husband, Matt, Anna Elizabeth Smith and Lane Ward and wife, Lauren; and a great-grandson, Carson Bennett Hair.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
