Janice Whaley Collier, 83, Garner, died Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016.

Mrs. Collier graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1950.

She later graduated from Carolina College of Beauty Knowledge in 1951, and worked for many years in Raleigh and Garner as a hairdresser.

She was a member of Garner United Methodist Church for many years, but later attended Aversboro Road Baptist Church.

She was a very loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She enjoyed playing bridge in several clubs and canasta with family and friends.

From singing with a quartet group during her high school years in eastern North Carolina and throughout her life, she also loved Southern Gospel music.

The thing she wanted most for people to remember about her was that she loved her children, and lived her life for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rexford and Berta Whaley; her brothers, Ralph Whaley and Bill Whaley; son, Daniel Collier; and her husband, Lloyd J. Collier Jr.

Mrs. Collier is survived by her sons, Lloyd J. Collier III of Garner, Timothy C. Collier and his wife, Renee, of Garner and Donnie E. Collier and his wife, Joanie, of Garner; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-granddaughters; sister, La Rose Caison of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

She also will be missed by several four legged granddogs.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh.

A celebration of Janice's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Brown-Wynne, Saint Mary's Street, with Dr. Harvey H. Whaley Jr. officiating.

The graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro, U.S. 117 South, N.C.
