Andrew Carl Williams Sr. was born Nov. 25, 1960, in Halifax County, Va. March 13, 2016, he answered the call of God, and entered into eternal rest and peace.

Andrew was reared in Halifax County, Va., where he attended public school. In 1979, he graduated from Halifax County Senior High School and in 1980, from Central Virginia Community College.

In 1981, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country faithfully and honorably for 20 years while earning numerous accolades, achievement awards, decorations and medals to include an Associate in Applied Science degree from the Community College of the Air Force.

Andrew was a meek and humble man whose actions spoke louder than words.

He recognized a need for a Savior, and received the baptism.

As he drew closer to God, in 2000, he received his Apprentice Ministerial License. Andrew had a passion for preaching the gospel and teaching Sunday school; he was a man full of wisdom and grace.

Andrew not only served the church, he also served his community. He was president of the Host Lions Club, cub master for Pack 11 and chaplain and charter organization representative for Troop 11.

Andrew was an exemplary employee for the United States Postal Service and Wayne County public schools.

Andrew was a faithful, loving and committed husband and best friend to his wife, Patricia, for 17 dedicated years.

He was a strong example, positive role model, wise counselor and compassionate father to his three sons he loved with all his heart, Terrence, Joshua and Jonah, and the complete joy of his life, his two grandsons, Ayden and Kemar'i.

Andrew was the pillar of his family, a noble man and a great man of God. He was a witness to all who recognized his love for Jesus Christ.

Andrew was preceded in death by his infant son, Andrew Carl Williams Jr., and his parents, Fred and Viola Cheatham.

Andrew leaves his Christ-like life as an example to his brothers, sisters and host of relatives.

Andrew will be greatly missed by his wife, sons, grandsons, family, friends, church family and co-workers, who all respected and loved him dearly.
