Henri Herz "Bones" Andrews, 85, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, March 15, 2016, while surrounded by his family.

Henri was born in Camden, Ala., July 5, 1930, to the late Leon Parker Andrews and Reba Hart Andrews.

He lived his dream, proudly serving as a pilot in the United States Air Force.

Henri will always be remembered for his incredible intelligence, his wonderful sense of humor and his patriotism. He protected his country and her allies on multiple deployments.

Henri's valor and skill was recognized with numerous decorations.

He retired after 23 years of service with the rank of major.

Following his military career, Henri worked as an insurance salesman.

He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and his dogs, but most of all his family.

Henri was also known for his ability to repair virtually anything.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church of which he was a member. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will gather for a rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a time of visitation from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Henri is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marianne Wolfe Andrews; his children, twins, Mary Louise Messina-Febres and husband, Carlos, of Raleigh and Henri Herz Andrews III of Goldsboro, Peter Jay Andrews and wife, Donna, of Willow Springs, Helen Kay Andrews of Beaufort and John Leon Andrews and wife, Lisa, of Louisburg; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Henri was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. James Stackhouse and Home Health and Hospice of Wayne County.

Love and heartfelt thanks are also expressed to his Christian caregivers, Melissa Ward, Montrice Harvey and Donald Williams, whose care allowed Henri to spend his final months at home.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Respect for Life, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
