LAURA LINEBACK HINE

Laura Lineback Hine, formerly of Winston-Salem, died peacefully Jan. 27, 2016.

Born in Forsyth County Nov. 12, 1917, to Ellis A. Lineback and Odella Craft Lineback, she was the widow of George H. Hine.

She is survived by her son, John C. Hine (and wife, Ann Moore Hine) of Goldsboro; son, Richard M. Hine of Senatobia, Miss.; grandson, Neil Moultrie Hine (and wife, Ann Mebane Hine) of Goldsboro; granddaughter, Laura Hine DeBiase (and husband, Albert DeBiase) of Fremont; and three great-grandchildren, Battle M. Hine, Florence Moultrie Hine and Boone J. DeBiase.

Laura was the youngest of eleven children, all of whom predeceased her, Freda Shamel, Eula Jones, Junius Lineback, Jasper Lineback, Haywood Lineback, Frank Lineback, Hiatt Lineback, Mayola Griffin, Sarah Joyner and Lucille Hailey.

A graduate of Old Town High School, from which she graduated in 10 years after once being named Student of the Year by the school board, she attended Salem College until helping with the World War II efforts in the experimental laboratories and wind tunnels at Langley Field in Virginia.

After the war, she returned to Winston-Salem and married George Hine, who had just returned from being a Navy aviator in the Pacific.

A lifelong member of Mount Tabor Methodist Church, she was active for most of her life in church activities, and was a volunteer at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem Thursday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Burial will immediately follow at God's Acre in Bethabara.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baddour Memorial Center, P.O. Box 97, Senatobia, Miss., 38668; Kitty Askins Hospice, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or Mount Tabor United Methodist Church.
