SELBY 'TOMMY' HOOKS

Selby "Tommy" Hooks, 80, went home to be with his heavenly father Wednesday surrounded by his loving family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro, with pastor Berry House officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.

Mr. Hooks was born in Wayne County Aug. 24, 1935, to the late Roy and Myde Whaley Hooks.

He was a member of Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, and a veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Hooks; three sons, Gerald Hooks and wife, Amanda, of Wilmington, Ricky Hooks and wife, Lisa, of Goldsboro and Chris Sasser and wife, Dana, of LaGrange; three daughters, Marie Hooks and husband, Chris, of Wilmington, Kim Sasser of Goldsboro and Pam Daughtry and husband, Rodney, of Clayton; two brothers, Edsel Hooks of Goldsboro and Aaron Hooks and wife, Betty, of Goldsboro; two sisters, Layune Taylor and husband, Ray, of Goldsboro and Vergie Bell of the west coast; nine grandchildren, Matt, Tyler, Emily, Robbie, Joshua, Baylee, Colby, Colin and Emma Grace; and one great-grandchild, Noah.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by one son, Robbie Dell Hooks; three brothers, Ralph Hooks, Harold Hooks and Billy Hooks; his sister, Carolyn Howell; and his first wife, Carol Person Hooks.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the home of Ricky and Lisa Hooks, 895 Friendly Drive in Rosewood.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
