WILBUR EDWARD WILSON

Wilbur Edward Wilson, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at his home in Durham.

Wilbur was born and raised in the Schley Community of Orange County. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and UNC-Chapel Hill where he was a student when Pearl Harbor occurred. He was a lieutenant in the Army Air Force and was a pilot of a B-17. Wilbur owned the John R. Hall Insurance Co. in Durham for many years and retired from Crum and Forrester Insurance Co. He was a member of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Wilson of Goldsboro; his son, Bill Wilson and daughter-in-law Carol Teal of Raleigh, and grandson, Zachary Teal Wilson of Claremont, Calif.

Wilbur was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca, his parents Ed and Mary Wilson, and his sisters, Lucille, Irma and Christine.

A graveside service with military honors will be at Maplewood Cemetery, 1621 Duke University Road at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Officiating will be the Rev. Katie Crowe and Graham McChesney.

Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home at 1005 West Main St. in Durham. Memorials may be made to Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church, 927 W.
