RUTH KENNEDY CUMMINGS

Ruth Kennedy Cummings, 89, Kinston, peacefully passed away Oct. 6, 2015 at Magnolia Cottage.

Ruth was born Oct. 6, 1926, in Duplin County.

She received the greatest gift of all of meeting her heavenly father on her birthday.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved cooking and serving her family. Ruth dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord.

She was God fearing and a charter lifetime member of Rivermont Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate and honor Ruth's life will be held Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Cemetery.

Ruth's surviving family includes her husband of 70 years, Nathan; daughter, Patsy Newby and husband, Reggie, of Kinston; son, Haywood Cummings and wife, Mev, of Mount Olive; granddaughter, Kelly Rouse and husband, Franklin, of Seven Springs; grandsons, Gregory Thompson and wife, Laurie, of Kinston and Corbett Cummings and wife, Amanda, of Pikesville; stepgrandson, Dan Smith and wife, Shanera, of Texas; stepgranddaughter, Robyn Pullen and husband, Danny, of Goldsboro; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Austin Rouse, Montana and Maggie Thompson and Evan and Adley Cummings; stepgreat-grandchildren, Javen and Leah Smith, Jordan Smith, Kaleb Lane and Paytyn Jones and Avenell Pullen; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, and is survived by five brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends immediately following the burial and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Rivermont Baptist Church Building Funds, 2478 N.C. 258 South, Kinston, N.C., 28504.
