JERRY ANDREW KEEN

Mr. Jerry Andrew Keen, 71, 235 Waverly Way, Burlington, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at his residence.

A native of Johnston County, he was the husband of Dorothy "Dottie" Sullivan Keen, who survives, and the son of the late Chester Edward Keen and Ilamae Fitzgerald Keen.

He was owner/operator of Johnson-Sherman Co. in Goldsboro and a United States Navy veteran.

He was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church, and a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Goldsboro.

He was a member of the board of trustees for Methodist University, and recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2014.

Surviving, other than his wife of the home, are two daughters, Shannon Keen Gooding and husband, Bryan, of Burlington and Kelly Keen McKinney and husband, Freebird, of Burlington; two grandchildren, Dorothy Gail McKinney and Jeremiah Strong McKinney; a twin sister, Judy Farmer and husband, Jim, of South Carolina; a brother, Jim Keen and wife, Jackie, of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at Bellemont United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Farron Duncan and Dr. Jerry Jackson officiating.

The family received friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday evening. At other times, they will be at the residence of a daughter, Kelly McKinney, 3025 Truitt Drive, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bellemont United Methodist Church, 4039 Markwood Drive, Burlington, N.C., 27215, or Methodist University, c/o Rhonda McMillan, 5400 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, N.C., 28311.
