ELIZABETH HOLMES

Died July 23, 2015

After a protracted battle with cancer, Elizabeth "Jane" Holmes died on July 23, 2015, in Louisville, Ky., at the age of 68.

She leaves behind her daughters Amanda Hale, Jamie Cox and Allison Berberick and her son Walter Allen.

She was born Oct. 23, 1946, to father Tom Holmes and mother Elaine Holmes, who predeceased her. She grew up in Goldsboro, N.C., with one sister, Charlotte Holmes.

Jane loved adventure and spent many of her years sailing, camping and RVing all over the United States, including a 4,200-mile motorcycling trip across much of the West.

After many years of devoting her life to her children, Jane went back to school after her daughters left home and earned her nursing degree, which she used to help others, including wounded veterans. All that knew her will remember her for her sweet smile and infectious laughter.

Jane is survived by her children, as well as her sister. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Jane requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery located at 3888 U.S. Hwy 70 East Princeton, N.C. The service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to The National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The family would also like to thank Presbyterian Homes of Louisville, who cared for Jane in her final months.
