NINA BRITT JOYNER

March 18, 1921-July 28, 2015

Nina Britt Joyner, 94, Grantham community, was called home Tuesday, July 28, 2015, to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord while surrounded by her family.

Nina was born in Wayne County March 18, 1921, to the late Louis Robert Britt and Sally Lee Britt.

She was married for 63 years to Willie Mintz Joyner, who preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1999.

Nina worked in the Wayne County School System for a number of years.

Nina's life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. She dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord.

Nina was the oldest member of Eureka Christian Church having been a member for 85 years. She utilized her gifts and abilities in many ways to share the love of God.

Nina was always on call to give an encouraging word, bake something or give a helping hand.

Nina raised her children on the farm that she dearly loved, and she enjoyed every day on that farm with her family. She loved her vegetable garden and her flower garden more as her yard did always show.

A service celebrating Nina's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, at Eureka Christian Church, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in Britt Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 30, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Eureka Christian Church.

Nina is survived by her sons, Bobby L. Joyner and wife, Carol, Gordon A. Joyner and wife, Lena, Wayne Joyner, Ricky Joyner and wife, Lee, and Danny Joyner and wife, Angela; daughters, Iris Joyner Weaver and husband, J.L., and Margaret Joyner Cook; daughter-in-law, Ann Collier Joyner; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband and parents, Nina was preceded in death by her son, Willie Ray Joyner, and son-in-law, Henry J. Cook.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given to the Carlisle Purvis Memorial at Eureka Christian Church, 2036 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
