OLA A. BUTLER

Died July 15, 2015

Ola Bee Adams Butler, Goldsboro, widow of James Long Butler, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, July 15, at the age of 97.

Bee, as more fondly known, was the daughter of Ben Franklin and Minnie Fulton Adams, and was the granddaughter of Adamsville founders, Marshall Lee and Lorraine Godley Adams.

Bee graduated with a music degree from Pineland College, N.C.

She served as pianist, organist and accompanist at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church for many years.

She taught private piano to numerous New Hope School students, and influenced many into active participation into piano and music.

Bee operated Boulevard Beauty Salon in Adams Shopping Center near Gate 1 of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, and later expanded her business to include the Yarn and Knit Shop. Again, she influenced a great deal of individuals who were interested in the art of knitting and crocheting.

She was an active resident at Kirkwood Retirement Center in Adamsville, and was always involved in its many projects and activities. Bee had many friends and acquaintances.

Bee retired at the age of 75.

A private graveside service will be held Friday at Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Jesse Roger Tripp officiating.

Bee was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one sister, Violet Ercel McDougall of Detroit, Mich.

She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Dr. Lee Adams of Goldsboro; three children, Jenny B. Wilder of Tampa, Fla., J. Frank Butler of Moss Hill, N.C., and Janice B. Hardee of Greenville, N.C.

She was blessed with six grandchildren, Rachel Wilder Khan (deceased) and husband, Quasim, and C. David Wilder both from Tampa, Fla., Pamela Renee B. Vincent of Moss Hill, N.C., Jennifer Butler of Irving, Texas, Kendall Hardee and wife, Holly, of Goldsboro and Kevin Hardee and wife, Kellie, of Jacksonville, Fla.; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lee Fitzhugh Fulton Scholarship at Wake Forest or Relay for Life, Wayne County. Both contacts can be made through her brother, Dr. E. Lee Adams.

Also, memorials may be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 2803 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
