JAMES ALLEN SUTTON SR.

James Allen Sutton Sr., 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
James was born in Wayne County Sept. 30, 1931, to the late Lloyd Davis and Viola Parker Sutton.
He lived a life of dedication to his Lord and family and friends and to his community.
James was a farmer in the community.
A service of remembrance and celebration will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange, with the Rev. Ronnie Hobgood officiating. Interment will take place Friday at 11 a.m at Fairview Cemetery.
James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Joyce Jones Sutton; children, Jamison S. Griffin and husband, Lindsey, of Greenville, Jan S. Measley and husband, Luby, of Kinston and James Allen Sutton Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Allen Heath Sutton and Olivia Evelyn Sutton; stepgrandchildren, Brianne Gee and husband, George, and Kelly Smith and husband, Kevin; six stepgreat-granchildren; sisters, Mary Lloyd Meyer of Kinston, Imogene S. Casey of Kinston, Annie Laura Casey of Goldsboro, Linda S. Foss and husband, Jimmy Carr, of LaGrange and Jackie Price and husband, Tim, of Seven Springs; and his special companion Katie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gibbie Creech.
The family will receive friends following the service Thursday at Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange and at other times, at his home.
