Mildred Carolyn Downer, Mount Olive, went home to be with Lord and savior Saturday on her 76th birthday.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Family of Faith Community Church, 401 N. Oak Forest Road, Goldsboro, with visitation afterward.
Mrs. Downer was born July 5, 1939, in Wayne County to the late Benjamin and Mildred Lynch Herring.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Downer Newcomb, and brother, Jack Herring.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Caulk; three sons, Floyd Dean Downer, Michael Downer and Kirk Downer; brother, Phillip Herring; two sisters, Marie Burgess and Rebecca Jones; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family is the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
