DAVID B. LETCHWORTH

David Bentley Letchworth, 57, a Calypso resident, went to be with his Lord Saturday afternoon, June 20, 2015. Death came suddenly and unexpectedly while he was cutting the lawn at his residence.

His life and homegoing will be celebrated in a service to be held Tuesday, June 23, at 7 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by pastor Doug Bartlett and pastor Jeff Dail, with visitation immediately following. Committal and burial will be Wednesday, June 24, at 10 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church at 130 Ed Edmondson Road, Mount Olive, N.C.

David was a member of the 1976 graduating class of Southern Wayne High School.

He was a man who wore many hats, and was very involved in many community and church capacities. In past years, he had been a volunteer with Dudley, Mount Olive and Calypso fire departments and Mount Olive Rescue Squad.

He was employed with Piedmont Natural Gas at the time of his passing.

A longtime member of Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, David was currently serving as president of the Men's Ministries, was sound and media coordinator, was president of the Riders of the Cross bikers ministry, was a commander with Royal Rangers, had served several terms on the church board of deacons, was a former usher and choir member, was a member of the King's Kids puppet ministry, was an actor in the church's Hee-Haw theatrical production and was involved in a church mission trip to Africa.

David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anne Swinson Letchworth of the home; his mother, Jean Jackson Letchworth of Mount Olive; two sons, Bryan Letchworth and Matthew Letchworth both of Dudley; two granddaughters, Makayla and Makensey Letchworth both of Mount Olive; his parents-in-law, Joyce and the Rev. Jimmy Swinson of Mount Olive; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Neil and Teresa Swinson of Mount Olive and Melody S. and Timmy Jones of Clinton; nieces and nephews, Kelly Jones, Aaron Jones, Greg Swinson and Jonathan Smith and wife, Kristen; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death and met in heaven by his father, Albert Bentley Letchworth, and grandparents, Mamie and Paul Letchworth, Nathan Jackson and Margaret Jackson Harper.
