Michael "Mike" William Cosgrove, 68, resident of Mount Olive, passed away Tuesday morning, June 9, in the comfortable surroundings of Kitty Askins Hospice Center with loved ones at hand.

His life will be remembered in a service Saturday, June 13, at 1 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeffrey Scott McCumber and the Rev. Andrea McCumber. Interment will follow in Maplewood in Mount Olive.

Visitation will be during the hour before the service at Tyndall and at the residence at other times.

Mike was a native of Battle Creek, Mich., and was the son of William Henry Cosgrove Jr. and Mary Jane Brandt Cosgrove, both of whom are now deceased.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and upon his discharge, he became employed with DuPont Co. from which he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Thornton Cosgrove, of the home; three stepsons and their spouses, Mike and Melissa McCumber of Pikeville, Jeff and Debbie Cosgrove of Rosewood and Ashley McCumber and Craig DaVini of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren, the Rev. Jeffrey Scott McCumber and wife, the Rev. Andrea McCumber, of Peachland, N.C., Zachary McCumber of Rosewood, Victoria "Tori" Carol McCumber of Pikeville and Brayden of Pikeville; three brothers, Donald Cosgrove, William "Bill" Cosgrove III and Paul Cosgrove all of Battle Creek, Mich.; four sisters, Rosemary Thornton of Lawton, Mich., Veronica Davis of Texas, Jean Shields of Nebraska and Ruth Starring of Battle Creek, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mike was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Cosgrove, and a brother, Pete Cosgrove.
