FARRELL WILLIAMS

Farrell Williams, 88, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Farrell was born in Wayne County Dec. 13, 1926, to the late Lucky and Ellen Whitley Williams.

He was married to the late Eleanor Carlisle Williams, who preceded him in death Jan. 13, 2011.

Farrell served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a part of the 5th E-Vac Unit.

He owned and operated Elroy Meat Market in the Elroy community until his retirement, and was a member of New Hope Friends Meeting.

Farrell was a fireman with Elroy Fire Department, where he served as the first fire chief.

A service celebrating Farrell's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at New Hope Friends Church, with Bill Garner officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center.

Interment will be in Whitley-Williams Family Cemetery.

Farrell is survived by his daughter, Lisa Johnson and husband, Edward, of Goldsboro; son, Jamie Williams and wife, Lynn, of Four Oaks; brothers, Alton Williams and wife, Evelyn, of Goldsboro, George Williams and wife, Sue, of Goldsboro and Brent Williams and wife, Marsha, of Mount Olive; and two grandchildren, Reid Williams and Seth Williams.

In addition to his wife and parents, Farrell was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Frazier and Bob Williams, and sisters, Mildred Smith, Marie Hinnant, Joyce Garris and his twin sister, Lesie Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to New Hope Friends Meeting, 4451 U.S. 70 East, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
