ERLENE JORDAN EVANS

Erlene Jordan Evans, 85, Raleigh, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Rex Healthcare.

Erlene was born in Johnston County Nov. 18, 1929, to the late Leslie R. and Nettie Pittman Jordan.

She was married for 62 years to the late Clifton White Evans, who preceded her in death Sept. 28, 2011.

Erlene worked with her husband in the family business, Sampson Salvage Co. in Clinton.

She was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 24, 2015, in Pine Forest United Methodist Church fellowship hall from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by a service celebrating Erlene's life at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Vann Spivey officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Erlene is survived by her son, Warren Evans and wife, Kay Ann, of Clinton; daughter, Elaine Evans Ward and husband, Douglas, of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Kimberly M. Ward, Eric W. Ward and Kam Miller; sisters, Dolores Smith of Rosewood and Barbara Ann Jordan of Dudley; and brothers, L. Ray Jordan and wife, Cleo, of Albemarle, Ben Lewis Jordan of Grifton and Robert Pittman Jordan of Hurt, Va.

She is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law including, Joyce Sauls and husband, Donald, of Goldsboro, Janice Curfman and husband, Woody, of Garner, Herbert Evans of Princeton, James Evans and wife, Irene, of Archdale and Bill Evans and wife, Jan, of Garner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her special companion and friend, Janet Morton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Cousins, Ollie Kornegay, Carol Mitchell and Catherine Newman; brothers-in-law, J.D. Newman, Percy Evans, Billy G. Smith, Bill Kornegay and Willie D. Crawford; and sisters-in-law, Hazel Crawford, Gretchen Evans and Ollie Gray Evans.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Pine Forest United Methodist Church at 867 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
