Mrs. Rosa Mae Baldwin Barnes, 84, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Mother Barnes," 300 Nelson Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., departed her earthly life Thursday, May 7, 2015, at her residence.

Rosa was born in Wayne County Aug. 7, 1930, to the late Mr. Kirby Lee Baldwin and Mrs. Sylvia Swinson Baldwin.

She received her education in the Wayne County public school system.

After graduation, she continued her education, and became a social worker.

She was employed with the Department of Social Services for the state of New York.

Mother Barnes was a member of Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother's Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Jethro Barnes, with 58 years of marriage.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 N. Carolina St., Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor Timothy Dortch will officiate.

Interment will follow in Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 445 Casey Mill Road, Dudley, N.C., 28333.

Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, from 10 to 10:50 a.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 N. Carolina St., Goldsboro, N.C.

Mother Barnes' loving and precious memories will be cherished by her sisters, Estelle Petty and husband, Renner Sr., of Dudley, N.C., and Delois Campbell and husband, Neal, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her brother, Alton Baldwin of Hollywood, Fla.; her three sisters-in-law, Louzelia Baldwin of Goldsboro, N.C., Opal Baldwin of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sandra Baldwin of Jacksonville, Fla.; her two aunts, Sadie Jennings of Bronx, N.Y., and Beatrice Joyner of Washington, D.C.; her uncle, Walter Shirley of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Thursday, May 14, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 8:50 a.m. at Mother Barnes' residence, 300 Nelson Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Wednesday, May 13, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
