GLADYS D. EZZELL

Feb. 26, 1943-May 8, 2015

Gladys Marybelle Darden Ezzell, 70, resident of Odom's Mill Road, Mount Olive, passed away Friday evening, May 8, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Mrs. Ezzell was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Holloman Darden and the Rev. Faison Darden; a brother, Faison Darden Jr.; and the in-laws from the Ezzell family: Norman and Mattie Ezzell, Willie H. "Tommie" Ezzell, Stephen C. Ezzell, Lawrence Southerland, Kenneth Ward, Brenda Ezzell and Grover Hall.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Burgus Ray Ezzell; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry E. and Mitchell Davis of Mount Olive; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Rebekah Ezzell of Mount Olive; two grandchildren, Marshall Ezzell of the home, and Abigail Ezzell of Mount Olive; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert "Frog" and Kay Darden, and Ellis Darden, all of Mount Olive; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Davidson Hall of Florida, and Elizabeth "Teenie" and Shell Taylor of Vass; another sister-in-law, Margaret Darden of Mount Olive; the in-laws from the Ezzell family, Doris E. Southerland of New Bern, Becky E. Ward of Turkey, Norbert "Pa" Ezzell of Albertson, Dwight and Betty Ezzell and Dennis and Maybelle Ezzell, all of Warsaw, Angie E. Blake of Jacksonville, Beverly "Lady" Ezzell of Albertson, and Jean Walston of Mount Olive; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Michell E. Rowlands of Warsaw; dear friends, Evelyn Davis, Teresa Auvil, Sylvia Ann Strickland and Dawn Traveny, all of Mount Olive, and Elizabeth Smith of Goldsboro; her beloved pets, Barney the cat, and Travis the dog; and the WOOFF animals that she helped care for. A special thanks is extended to family cousin, Nancy E. Summerlin of Warsaw, for her companionship and willingness to assist during Gladys' final days, and also a note of gratitude to Kitty Askins staff for their exemplary care and support.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Michael L. Whitfield, with burial following in the Holloman Family Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 7 until 9 p.m. and at other times, friends and family are welcome to the residence.
