WRAY WILLIFORD

WRAY WILLIFORD

Feb. 12, 1950-April 2, 2015

Weldon Wray Williford, 65, Fremont, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, passed peacefully into that far better life with his Lord and savior and with those beloved family who went on before April 2, 2015.

Wray was born in Wayne County Feb. 12, 1950, to Minnie Mitchell Williford of Princeton and the late Otis Albert Williford.

He retired from Bridgestone-Firestone after 26 years of service.

Wray was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Wray had a deep passion for the outdoors and fishing. He was most happy when out on the water, and nothing was more pleasing than the tug of a fish on the line, no matter the size.

Even in his declining health, Wray continued to exemplify God's love and a heart for serving others. Those of us who knew Wray weep at our loss, laugh with our remembrances and reflect deeply on how much he meant to us. He made the world a healthier and happier place.

A service celebrating Wray's life will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Bill Rose and the Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. Interment will be Sunday, April 5, 2015, at 3 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at the church and other times at his home.

In addition to his mother, Wray is survived by his wife, Jane Williford; sons, Weldon Wray Williford Jr. and Clinton Ashley Willliford; brothers, Raymond Williford, Frank Williford, Stewart Williford and Keith Williford; and sisters, Joan Daly and Evelyn Hill.

In addition to his father, Wray was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Layla Jane Williford.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
